Welcome to the website of concert organist, pianist and teacher Matthias Havinga.
Matthias enjoys a busy international concert career. He recorded many CD's, made countless other recordings and runs a successful Youtube-channel. Havinga is organist of the wonderful organs at the Oude Kerk, Amsterdam.
He is also Professor of Organ at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Reviews on Matthias' organ playing:
"...playful, sophisticated timing and dangerously quick pedal playing. Havinga masters his profession."
"...pure, true musicianship and an inner feeling for the ‘right’ musical interpretation are expressed in an inimitable way by Matthias Havinga."
The new year has started quietly, providing preparation time for Joey Roukens' new organ piece 'Iter Arcanum', which will premiere in the Haarlem Organ Festival in July.
March brings three beautiful projects. With soprano Klaartje van Veldhoven, contralto Daniel Elgersma, first violin Johannes Leertouwer and small ensemble, Matthias will perform the Pergolesi Stabat Mater in Oirschot and Heemstede. The program also features two Buxtehude cantatas.
Next up, the organ class of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire led by Daniel Moult will host Matthias for a Celebrity Organ Recital and masterclasses in its wonderful organ studio.
Finally, in the last week of March, Phion and Consensus Vocalis will perform Bach's Johannes Passion, conducted by Shunske Sato, with Matthias at the organ. Concerts are in Zwolle, Oldenzaal and Enschede.
